Matt Lanty attended Christ For the Nations in 2001 and Dallas Baptist University in 2003 where he studied
Practical Theology.
He is currently employed by University of Texas at Dallas as Master Electrician.

He plays bass guitar and is one of the vocalists with Crystal Fields Band. Matt has played in 2 Christian rock bands before coming to Crystal Fields Band.  He has done some song writing and collaboration with friends.  He believes music can be an important form of communiction.  Music is more of a ministry to Matt and is an opportunity to communicate the Gospel to others who need to know Jesus or experience Him more deeply in their lives.

Robin Mark, the Celtic praise and worship leader, is an important inspiration for Matt, whose style is very appealing to him.

Matt says."I enjoy music with a lot of energy.  Music that is passionate is more fun.  I also enjoy finding a good groove."

Bands and musicians that have influenced him include, Larry Norman, Bob Dylan (Christian albums), Switchfoot, Poor Ol Lu, Kings X, ELO, Amberlin, and Tree 63.
He says the greatest challenge in his playing is maintaining a sense of worship while playing together as a band.

Matt is a man of few words but he is very talented and creative with the bass guitar. He's also one of the vocalists for Crystal Fields Band.

He always brings his special brand of dry humor to the band.
"I am generally a quiet person with a lot on my mind. I don't enjoy small talk that much and really enjoy learning. A thoughtful conversation is great fun for me. So is playing music on my bass and Bible reading."
