Matt is happily married to his wife, Heeyah, of more than 7 years. He is also the proud father of his son, Josiah.
Matt played in 2 Christian rock bands and several church worship teams before becoming a member of Crystal Fields. Matt says that he enjoys playing music that has a lot of energy. "It can be a challenge to find the groove that is hidden in a song."
He is more of a rocker at heart, but has enjoyed the challenge of finding a place in more traditional forms of music. His musical influences include Larry Norman, Bob Dylan (the Christian albums), Switchfoot, ELO, Kansas, Poor Ol’ Lu, Amberlin, Tree63, and Kings X.
He always brings his special brand of humor to the band even though he says, "I am generally a quiet person with a lot on my mind. A thoughtful conversation is great fun for me." He also enjoys a good Bible study when one is available.
Matt graduated Christ For the Nations in 2002 where he studied Practical Theology.  He also graduated from Dallas Baptist University in 2003 and studied Business Administration.

He is currently employed for University of Texas at Dallas as a Master Electrician.
