Cheryl Stewart is a founding member of the New Philharmonic Orchestra of Irving, and has been performing with this same group of musicians for over 30 years. She performed Vivaldi's Concerto in A Minor for piccolo and string orchestra with this group in the fall of 2001. She has also served as the Woodwind Personnel Manager for this orchestra for over 20 years. She earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Baylor University, where she studied with Helen Ann Shanley. Other instructors include Suzie Hafen and Neal Weaver, both with the El Paso Symphony Orchestra, and Deborah Baron, with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Cheryl has performed frequently throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex over the past thirty-two years, including performances with the Fort Worth Civic Orchestra, the Northeast Orchestra, the Johnson Park Woodwind Trio, and the New Philharmonic Orchestra of Irving Woodwind Quintet. She is currently an active member of Flutes Unlimited and Flutissimo! flute choirs, and serves as the section leader for the Oak Lawn Band, which is celebrating its 30th season this year. Other affiliations include the Harmony Club and E. Clyde Whitlock Music Club sections of the Fort Worth Woman's Club, the Texas Flute Society, and the National Flute Association. Cheryl currently works at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth as a Security Administrator in their Information Services department. She plays on a Prima Sankyo Flute and debuted her Drelinger Max Headjoint during the Four Play's performance of Claude Bolling's Suite for Flute & Jazz Piano Trio in the spring of 2008, with her brother, Alan Lambert, on piano.
